Easter activities and schedule changes in the City of Ottawa

April 10, 2019 – The City of Ottawa would like to remind residents of the following schedule changes for the Easter holiday, from Friday, April 19to Monday, April 22.

Client services

  • Ottawa City Hall and all seven client service centres, including the Government Service Centre located at 110 Laurier Avenue West, will be closed on Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22.
  • The City’s Provincial Offences Court, including the courts located at 100 Constellation Drive, will be closed on Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22.
  • The City’s 3-1-1 Contact Centrewill be open for urgent matters requiring the City’s immediate attention. Call 3-1-1 or 613-580-2400 (TTY: 613-580-2401) to speak to a client service representative.

Green bin, recycling and garbage collection

  • There will be no curbside green bin, recycling or garbage collection on Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22. Collection will be delayed to the following day for the Friday, the Monday and the rest of the week.
  • Garbage at multi-unit residences will be collected on the regularly scheduled day. Recycling and green bin collection will be delayed by one day.
  • The Trail Road Landfill will be closed on Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22.


  • Free parking will be available all day at City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West, on Friday, April 19. Regular rates will apply on Monday, April 22.
  • All other City parking regulations and restrictions apply throughout the long weekend.

Transit service

  • OC Transpowill operate on a Sunday schedule on Friday, April 19, and a revised weekday schedule on Monday, April 22. Easter holiday schedules are available at octranspo.com. Customers can get real-time schedules 24 hours a day by calling 613-560-1000 or texting 560560 plus their four-digit bus stop number.
  • A family or group can travel all day for $10.50 with the Family DayPass, which can be purchased from the bus operator when boarding or from a ticket machine at any O-Train Line 2 station. A family or group can include up to six people, with a maximum of two people aged 13 or older.
  • The Rideau Centre OC Transpo Customer Service Centre will be closed on Friday, April 19 and Sunday, April 21. It will be open on Monday, April 22 from 8:30 am to 9 pm. Customer service centres at the Lincoln Fields, Place d’Orléans and St-Laurent stations will be closed on Friday, April 19, and Monday, April 22.
  • OC Transpo Transit Information (613-741-4390) will be open on Friday, April 19 from 8 am to 9 pm and on Monday, April 22 from 7 am to 9 pm.
  • STO users can plan their trip using Plani-bus.
  • Para Transpo will operate a holiday service on Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22. Regular scheduled trips are automatically cancelled. Passengers may start booking trips one week before the holiday by calling 613-244-7272:
    • April 12 for Friday, April 19 bookings
    • April 15 for Monday, April 22 bookings
  • Regular scheduled Para Transpo trips on Sunday, April 21 are not cancelled. Customers are reminded to suspend regular bookings if they will be on vacation during the holiday.
  • Para Transpo’s taxi coupon booking line (613-842-3670) will be closed on Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22. The line for reservations and cancellations (613-244-7272) will be open during regular hours.
  • OC Transpo Customer Relations (613-842-3600) will be closed on Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22.

Recreation services

  • Pools, arenas and fitness centres, including swimming, fitness and skating facilities, will operate on modified schedules. Please check ottawa.ca for schedules.
  • Most registered programs at community centres, arenas and swimming pools will be cancelled. Clients should check with their facility to confirm, as some exceptions apply.

  • The City of Ottawa Archives Reference Services and Gallery 112 will be closed from Friday, April 19 to Monday, April 22.

Municipal child-care services

Library services

  • All branches and services of the Ottawa Public Library will be closed on Friday, April 19, Sunday, April 21 and Monday, April 22.
